Sci & Technol Hub Collab Res Program

Joint Workshop 2022 on Sci & Technol Hub Collab Res Program has be held at the Integrated Innovation Building in RIKEN Kobe in Nov. 4, 2022.

98 researchers participated in the Workshop on-site, and 11 researchers online using Zoom, including co-leaders of research projects adopted in the Collaborative Research Programs, researchers involved in the review and researchers interested in collaboration among RIKEN and universities.
At the poster presentation of the research projects adopted this year, they actively discussed and exchanged informations, so future development of their collaborative researches will be expected. In the oral presentations, interesting Questions & Answers were made about the excellent results of four collaborative researches selected from the research projects adopted last year. Thank you for your participation.

Comments in General Discussion (Summary)

We should consider a collaboration that includes issues in the humanities and social sciences.
There are many research subjects related to biology. There is a room for expanding collaboration to materials science, environmental resources, and so on.
Is there a mechanism or system for external experts to commit to this program? It would be a good idea to ask experts from RIKEN and universities who are familiar with the research fields of the adopted projects to give advice on how to proceed with specific research.
RIKEN is not an educational institution and does not have hospitals or farms. On the other hand, there are no barriers between research centers/divisions in RIKEN, and RIKEN has large facilities that can be shared. Complementary cooperation should be considered based on each situation, such as having universities make effective use of RIKEN facilities.
